Memorial Day

Don’t forget to take some time today to remember and thank our troops and their families for the sacrifice they make for our safety and freedom every day! Is there anything more American than a hero in the armed forces? I don’t think so! We should never take for granted the freedoms we enjoy, and what it costs, because it isn’t free! I am especially thankful today for my friend CJ Stewart.

CJ is a member of the 101st Airborne Combat Medic, and was deployed to southern Afghanistan on May 11,2010. Not even a month after being in Afghanistan, he was badly injured and nearly lost his arm. It has now been close to a year ago since CJ was injured. He has had close to 40 surgeries total, and the progress he has made has been an awesome thing to watch! CJ has amazing parents who have been so supportive, and also have been so gracious in sharing their experience and keeping all of us updated throughout this difficult journey. They all have also used every opportunity to turn a bad situation into something positive, and into one that points to our Father. I have NO doubt that God chose CJ and his family for this difficult journey because He knew how they would respond. They have truly been an inspiration to me, to countless others, and ultimately to the Kingdom of God. CJ is TRULY one of my heroes and I am so thankful for him today! Thank you CJ!!!

First Blog Post, Finally!

I have had this blog since June 2010, and I finally decided to start blogging! I wanted to wait until I graduated nursing school to start, so I could document this "next chapter" in my life, but the blogging bug has bitten and even though graduation is Friday, I think its close enough for me to start. I LOVE reading other people's blogs. Everyone is so creative! My blogging skills started at the ripe ole age of 15. Ah, yes a mature 15 year old with a little outlet known as Xanga. Going back and reading old posts are quite embarrassing and completely ridiculous, so I hope this new blogging experience doesnt turn out the same. But hey, if it does, I can not only show my kids one embarrassing blogging venture, but two. There has been so much going on lately, that this may be a little lengthy, random, and miscellaneous, hence the blog name. I wanted this blog to be not just about me and what I did on a particular day (mistake #1 with Xanga), but alot of different things. I love to cook, so I hope to share recipes with you. And because I want to be like Pioneer Woman. If you don't know who that is and like to cook, click on her right now, enjoy, and thank me later. She is great.
I still cannot believe that i am DONE with nursing school! It seems so surreal, and just like yesterday when I decided this was what I wanted to do. I set the goal for myself, and even though I went through some bumps along the way, I did it and I could not be more excited. It has definitely been one of the, if not THE hardest things I have ever done. I take zero credit, because God was my constant source of strength It has been one of the best experiences as well. I was fortunate to have the BEST class, with some great people. Everyone I have met has been awesome, and will be great nurses. The best friends I have made throughout the last two years has been such a blessings. I could not have gotten through it without them (or without the support from my family and non-nursing school best friends). They are some of the best girls I know. They love the Lord, and ultimately want to honor Him with their lives. They have taught me so much, and I thank God for putting them in my life.
Here is a sweet little picture of some of us:

Our pinning ceremony is Thursday, and graduation is on Friday, and we are all SO excited!

Soon to be graduate of the University of Mississippi Medical Center - Hotty Toddy!

Spring is also a great time of the year. So much I could have been blogging about! The past few weeks have been packed with parties, concerts (Jason Aldean - yeehaw), and enjoying being out of school. Im loving this time and soaking up every minute of it. One of my sweet friends, Rachel Dillard, is also dating one of my best friends, Andrew. I love hanging out with her, and you should check out here blog here: Simply Little Blessings. She is my blogging inspiration!

I almost completely forgot. AMERICAN IDOL finale is TONIGHT! This season has been so great! I've watched every season since it started, and this is definitely been the BEST season, for me at least. Steven Tyler being a judge has probably been my favorite part. He is FABULOUS. I mean just look at him.

He is 62 years old? Whhhhat!?

TWO country singers in the final two! That has never happened! Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery. Youngest final two every! They both really good, but I am ALL in for Lauren Alaina! She has been my favorite ever since her audition which was amazing. Singing with Steven Tyler, at 15 years old?? Are you kidding me?

This has officially been a mangled up mess of thoughts for my first post, and I really hope to get better! So stay tuned!
